To reduce the number of columns within the building, the design included multiple transfer beams resulting in over 1,500 tonnes of structural steel on site. Throughout the design phase, McNab worked closely with Visy's specialised equipment providers to document all slab rebates and recesses for the successful installation of the customised plant and equipment.
To support the weight of the building on the poor ground conditions we installed 6,906 CSC (Controlled Stiffness Columns) piers, then applied a 450mm pad on top before foundations and ground services could begin.
With an eight staged hand over process required for this project, the collaboration between Visy and the equipment suppliers was imperative to achieve the tight program.
