About
Our story
McNab started with a simple belief: build strong relationships, do what you say you’ll do and take pride in the result. More than 30 years later, that approach has grown McNab from a regional construction business into one of Australia’s largest privately owned construction and property groups, with businesses spanning construction, development, supply, hire, technology and innovation.
Milestones
Michael McNab starts McNab from his daughter’s bedroom, using a ute borrowed from his first customer.
1996
McNab’s first logo is created by a family member, with the distinctive “M” inspired by the iconic sawtooth rooflines of the historic Toowoomba Foundry.
1997
McNab builds an early reputation in food-processing construction, delivering everything from complex abattoir works to Queensland’s first Woolies servo.
1998
McNab wins its first Master Builders Queensland Award for the construction of JBD Coldstores’ headquarters at Murarrie.
1999
Our Perth Street office in Toowoomba becomes McNab’s first property development — the beginning of what would ultimately become McNab Property.
2000
The UQ Micro Health Laboratory, better known as the "Brick Box", earned local and international recognition.
2001
Commenced our largest project to date: 40 animal housing facilities covering approximately 36,000sqm.
2002
Opened our first Brisbane office in January. By December, the office was staffed with nine full-time employees.
2003
McNab delivers its first project for Oakey Beef Exports, beginning a relationship spanning more than 60 projects that continues today.
2004
The Toowoomba team moves into 12 Neil Street, which remains McNab’s Toowoomba home today.
2006
McNab delivers the award-winning Tree of Knowledge in Barcaldine, one of Queensland’s most distinctive civic projects.
2008
McNab delivered more than $300m in projects for clients including QGC, Santos and Origin Energy.
2010
McNab delivers UQ’s globally recognised Global Change Institute, awarded a 6 Star Green Star rating and named among the world's 50 most impressive eco-friendly university buildings.
2013
McNab becomes renowned for delivering high-rise residential projects and increasingly complex developments across Queensland.
2016
We opened our Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast offices, creating a genuine South East Queensland construction footprint.
2017
McNab becomes one of Queensland's leading industrial builders alongside a growing portfolio of major commercial, residential, industrial, health, education and community projects.
2019
Building on more than two decades of property development experience, White Main Beach becomes McNab Property’s first major residential tower on the Gold Coast and signals a much larger development ambition.
2020
In response to COVID-driven supply chain disruption and growing pressure on material availability, McNab establishes Supplyhaus to create greater certainty of supply across its projects.
2021
McNab Building Services expands as a dedicated specialist business focused on refurbishment, remediation, upgrades and extending the life of existing buildings.
2022
ElectroHire joins McNab Group, adding specialist construction equipment, hoists, temporary electrical and hire capability.
2023
McNab expands into Sydney, extending the Group’s presence beyond Queensland. Kunjan Ganatra is appointed CEO, with Michael McNab continuing as Founder and Executive Chairman.
2024
McNab is recognised as one of Australia’s Top 100 Great Places to Work and named UDIA Queensland Employer of Choice.
2025
McNab expands the Group again, acquiring a significant stake in Powershift and purchasing BridgeFab, adding clean site energy and technology-led steel fabrication capability.
2025
McNab invests in ModnPods, bringing architectural-quality modular construction and advanced manufacturing capability into the Group.
2026
McNab celebrates 30 years, turning over more than $1.3 billion across five Australian offices and two international offices, with a Group spanning Construction, Property, Building Services, Supply & Hire, Manufacturing, Energy and Modern Methods of Delivery.

Today, McNab Group brings together eight companies and 15 brands, with more than 800 people and annual revenue exceeding $1.3 billion. What started as one construction business has grown into a diverse, connected Group, with the scale to take on bigger challenges, the specialist capability to solve them and the same commitment to relationships that got us here.
