UQ Synthetic Fields Precinct Car Park
Project Summary
Delivered for The University of Queensland, this $25 million development demonstrates McNab’s capability to deliver complex integrated infrastructure within a live operational environment.
The centrepiece of the project was the construction of a 15,000sqm suspended undercroft car park accommodating 500 vehicles, complete with EV charging facilities and 350 bicycle parking spaces, maximising valuable campus land while supporting future growth.
Constructed above the suspended structure are two international-standard synthetic sports fields spanning 15,000 sqm, including an International Hockey Federation (FIH)-approved hockey field and an FIH Multisport and FIFA 1 Star-certified field.
The project also included refurbishment of the existing three-level Sports Hub with new amenities, kitchen facilities, a 120-person viewing terrace and 2,000 sqm of roadworks.
Delivered during teaching semesters, examinations and graduation periods, works were carefully staged within a fully operational university campus. Detailed planning, stakeholder engagement and proactive communication ensured uninterrupted campus operations while maintaining safe access for students, staff and visitors throughout construction.
