Secondary & Primary Learning Centres for Chancellor State College
Project Summary
McNab delivered new Secondary and Primary Learning Centres for Chancellor State College, bringing state of the art facilities to both campuses.
The Secondary Learning Centre comprises 18 general learning areas, three flexible learning spaces and two science labs, with a multi-level concept and open atrium that brings natural light into the central core and creates collaborative spaces that interact with the building's architecture.
Responding to the continued growth of the Sippy Downs catchment zone, the Primary Learning Centre expands Chancellor State College's Primary Campus with eight general learning rooms featuring state of the art interactive whiteboards, benefiting from feature glass sliding doors and glass partitioning that allow natural light to penetrate the classrooms from the internal corridor light well, with natural ventilation achieved via highset and lowset louvres throughout.
Key to the success of both projects was constant communication with school representatives around safety, drop off and pick up operations, and lesson schedules, along with a robust design and construction process that engaged all stakeholders to ensure the client project brief was delivered. Located within the existing school, McNab maintained a close working relationship with the school management team around the daily and weekly programme, including coordinating out of hours connections for water and power, to ensure minimal disruption to the school community throughout construction.
